The Challenge – Exes 2 Rankings: Week Two

dropcap style=”font-size: 60px; color: #1878ab;”] F [/dropcap]irst Impressions Are:  The episode really seems to be honing in on the fact that while some of these “exes” are bullshit couples, some of them have real legit beef. Averey and Johnny, Jenna and Jay etc. were as real as Real World couples get, so seeing them on opposites sides of a bar?  I could bathe in the tension.

The First Challenge: Rounding the Bases

This looked like a fairly original challenge.  The objective was for each person to hit a “homerun” with their ex.  At each base there was a different task that the exes had to complete.  The last 3 teams at every base were to be eliminated. The last place team at the first base went straight to the dome.  The last base would have 3 teams left, with the winning team becoming power couple.

1st Base – A giant suck and blow competition through an bamboo obstacle.  If the card dropped, you had to start over

2nd Base – the women partners had to unscrew a bat and the men had to unscrew two baseballs.  They were placed in areas to make them look like boobs and dicks because everyone who watches MTV is 15 (or me and 30).

3rd Base – Each station had a combination that was hidden under peanut butter, which had to be (gross) licked off to reveal said combination.

Home Base – All of the top vets made it to the final round.  Each person was to grab a dangly 30 ft pole and stick their end of the pole into the other partners end until part of one comes out the other side…Super hard. The guys pole had to go into the girls hole.  Cue the AWFUL innuendos from the peanut gallery.

The Power Couple: Nany and Bananas (Wes got his in first, but couldn’t get it to pop out the other side).

The Losers: Averey and Johnny (could see it coming from the open)

The Vote: From a deliberation standpoint there is quite possibly no better way to start a season.  Nany wanted to send in Theresa and Wes, but Bananas being the ultimate politician, tried to walk Nany back from that move.  Too early for power moves and such.  Cooler heads prevailed and Nany and Bananas went with…Hailey and Thomas V. Averey and Johnny (lest we forget Johnny NEVER saw an elimination last season)

The Dome: Banded Together

Each team was to start on opposite sides of the dome with rubberbands being attached to them.  They had to crawl to the other side of the dome and grab a pole for 5 seconds.  What made it difficult was that the rubberband that was tied between the exes, so the progress made by one, pulled the other back.  The key here like most of the eliminations? COMMUNICATION BABY!

Winners: Averey and Johnny and it wasn’t even close.  I think Averey is going to bring some heat to the game.  I feel like she’s got a tomboy streak.

Power Couple Rankings

There were TONS of DQ’s this week, so the rankings are going to be heavily skewed towards prior season performance.

1. Nany & Bananas –  I feel like they are a combination of Omar and Stringer Bell combined to be the best team ever.  I know there are teams with Laurel or CT in years past that were stronger, but Bananys have brains too.

2. Diem & CT – Watching Diem not feel well in the house is surreal and awful and I don’t like it at all.

3. Theresa & Wes – Theresa has become the worst kind of challenge girl.  She finds a way to spin herself into other people’s shit, and act like she’s the good girl with that smirk.

4. Sarah & Jordan – Quiet week for these guys, but I did feel for Jordan in the ball screwing thingy.

5. Jonna & Zach – Jonna’s emo outsider campaign this season is kind of awesome.  Sad however tho like high school, she went from star jock bf to losery guy with no social standing.  The key is allying to people who can do something for you.  Zach, making moves on Jenna is obvious and can’t politically hurt you, so I’m for it.

6. Nia & Leroy –  Nia, we get it, you might have ESSED a dudes DEE.  She’s one that could be a wildcard.  It looks like her allegiances could shift any moment, so if I were her, I’d pivot from Theresa.  Leroy has fallen into a real quiet zone over the last two seasons.  He’s never terrible, but he’s not outright owning things.

7. Averey & Johnny –  BEAST MODE!  Despite their utter lack of communication they made that Dome their bitch.  The fear in Johnny’s voice as he asked to grab Averey’s leg was pretty great too.  This should keep them going for a few weeks.

8. Jemmye & Knight –  “Model problems!” line of the night Jemmye

9. Jenna & Jay – I love the purgatory that Jay has to live in this season.  Jenna is making serious longevity moves by flirting hard with Zach.  But Jay, don’t get down on yourself too much.  Jenna thinks there are 50 presidents for 50 states, so…theres that.

10. Brittany & Adam – GET OFF THE SHOW YOU MUTANTS!

11. Simone & John –  GET OFF THE SHOW YOU MUTANTS! MORE!

The Biggest Losers

1. Hailey & Thomas – Outside of those disgusting Are You The One people, this was the couple I gave the least shits about.  They are the plainest two people maybe on earth.  If Vanilla was a human, it’d be them.  Not even Vanilla Bean.  The classy stuff.   Just regular Breyers Vanilla.

Second Impressions Are:  A really good second episode.  The challenge was really focused on things that forced the teams to communicate and from a dramatic standpoint it was great.  However, knowing what happens with Diem from CT’s perspective, and hell, hers too was horrendous.  I really hope next week, which looks like it might be the last episode for them, is done tastefully.
