All You Don’t Want to Eat Immunity Challenge

The gross food challenge makes another return. It includes eating live worms, raw pork intestine, and live grubs. As one could imagine, the Survivors have a difficult time keeping the food down. Ciera completely spits out all the worms in the first round. Eventually, Gervase and Monica make it to the finals where they need to eat grubs. It is the same thing Gervase had issues eating in the first season of Survivor. While it is destiny that Gervase gets a second try at the grubs, he is not able to stop history from repeating itself as Monica finishes the grubs first to win immunity. While the challenge is disgusting, it is entertaining television watching the players squirm.

Tribal Council #1

It is clear that Vytas, Tina, or Katie will be voted out as they are clearly in the minority alliance. After the last tribal council when Aras was voted out, Tina returns to camp and calls out Tyson and Monica for turning on the original Galang alliance. However, Tyson correctly points out that Aras had an alliance with everyone in the game. As such, Tyson simply took out Aras before Aras could do the same to Tyson. Due to Tina’s outburst, she is clearly a target. During tribal council, Vytas admits that he felt anger and wanted revenge when his brother Aras was voted out. Next, he calls out Monica for being paranoid and an unreliable ally. Moreover, he points out Tyson and Gervase as the pair controlling the group in an attempt to put a target on their backs. As he is clearly inciting and irritating people in the majority alliance, it appears he does not care if he is voted out as knows he will get voted off in this tribal council or one of the next. Accordingly, he might as well try to derail the games of the people responsible for turning on Aras. Of course, Vytas is voted out and joins Aras on Redemption Island.

Monica’s Position

Monica has been criticized for being paranoid and talking too much. She continues to demonstrate this problem. Even though she wins immunity, she is concerned that the players are scrambling to figure out who to vote out assuming she was the original target before she won immunity. Of course, it is not accurate because the seven players in the majority are just trying to develop a plan to split the votes in case someone in the minority has a hidden immunity idol. In a confessional, Laura is clearly irritated by Monica’s fears. Moreover, Monica changes her vote from Katie to Vytas during tribal council because Vytas incited her anger when he called her out. The move is based on emotion and not logic. They were splitting the vote to prevent a hidden immunity from being used to neutralize votes against Vytas that would allow the minority to vote out someone in the majority. If Vytas did have an idol, someone in Monica’s alliance would have been voted out as there would no longer be a tie on Katie. It is the same move that got Tyson voted out in Heroes vs. Villains. To make matters worse, Monica admits her change of vote to her tribe. Accordingly, she has made herself a wild card as she cannot properly follow a plan. Gervase voices concerns as he would rather play with players that are predictable and reliable. While these actions may have solidified her position at the bottom of the alliance, it may actually help her if someone wants to take her to the end believing no jurors would vote for her.

Second Immunity Challenge and Scramble for the Idol

For the second immunity challenge, the Survivors need to stand on a shield while balancing a stack of coins on top of the bottom of the knob on a sword. They need to add a coin each round. It is very difficult as the slightest movement can cause a coin in the stack to drop. The players are deeply focused during the challenge. It comes down to Hayden, Katie, and Tyson. As Katie wins the challenge and immunity, the target is squarely on Tina. As a result, Tina scrambles into the woods to look for the idol as it is her only real chance of surviving the vote. Of course, it is pointless as Tyson already found it. However, he wisely has not told anyone about it so he does not become a target. Tyson has played it perfectly. Even though he knows he has the idol, he plays along with the rest of his tribe to avoid any suspicion that he has it. He instructs his tribe mates to follow Tina into the woods in case she finds the idol. As such, his tribe can conclude that she does not have it without him revealing that he has it. Tyson has played the game brilliantly so far. Tina’s only chance is to convince the tribe that she found it and they need to vote someone else off. However, she is transparent when she says she may or may not have it. As such, the tribe has no real fear that she has an idol and votes her out.
