NFC Wild Card Weekend Preview

aaron-rodgers-story

The NFC is the wild wild west. Honestly any team could make it out of the NFC.  With that I think it’s definitely the more exciting side of the playoff bracket, with the more exciting storylines.  Who doesn’t like the wild card of Aaron Rodgers, or the smoothness of Russell Wilson.  I know I love it.  The AFC is a two Horse Race.  I just hope Phillip Rivers throws a wrench in everything over there.

Now let’s get to the match-ups.

New Orleans Saints vs. Philadelphia Eagles

This game is going to be freezing, outdoors, on questionable grass.  Everything here points to the Eagles winning this game. And the stylish pick would be to somehow argue that the whole Saints can’t win at home thing is just an adoration.  But let’s be honest this is who they are.  I think the Saints are fun to watch, but when the ground will most likely be a mess, and when the weather will be freezing, the advantage will go to the team with the better running attack.

The Eagles are a high powered offense, but unlike most explosive offenses the Eagles rely heavy on the run. Also the Eagles have shown they score a lot of points in bad weather.  Look for LeSean McCoy to get 175 yards, and 3 TDs. The Eagles defense is susceptible to the run but they will most likely be able to sit back and watch Drew Brees try to throw.

As a Cowboys fan this pick is hard for me to make, but I gotta go with the Eagles.

Philadelphia Eagles Win 42-28

Green Bay Packers vs. San Francisco 49ers

I’m a man of contradictions.  Cause everything I just said about playing in the cold and questionable fields needs to be forgotten. Everything in this game points to the Niners winning.  Frank Gore is still running like an animal.  Anquan Boldin is coming into his own as the playoffs approach.  The defense is playing great as the regular season came to an end and Kaepernick is starting to show a little more of that read option magic that was so dangerous last season.  All this equates to a San Francisco domination right?  Wrong.  Honestly if the Niners were playing anyone else I would be picking them to win.  However they’re playing Aaron Rodgers at home as an underdog after just making maybe the throw of his career.  Rodgers plays best with a chip on his shoulder, and he recently fabricated a giant new chip with his injury.  And did I already talk about that throw.  The throw that only one Quarterback in the league can make.  Aaron Rodgers is that one Quarterback.  He’s unfazed by the weather as he’s always a 100 rated QB.  I gotta go with the Lambeau boys. Look for Rodgers to throw 2 TDs and run for one.

Green Bay Packers Win 35 – 17
